This 36"x24" oil painting of a standard poodle is part of a triptych which includes the paintings Suki and Moe also shown on this website. The undertones are the highlight of this portrait. I am currently accepting commissions for animal portraits. Prints are available of this painting.
About Susan Hensel
Art is in my DNA. Relatives from both sides of my family were and are successful artists. I worked as an artist in Oklahoma for 26 years, focusing on Portraiture in Oil. I grew up near Kansas City, MO and in January 2019 I returned to my Missouri roots and am settled near St. Louis. I have a fine arts degree that encompasses dance performance and art. I studied everything from the sciences of the body and movement, to lighting, stage design and choreography. Following college I performed for a short time with the Springfield Ballet. All of this plays into my love of painting figures moving through life. My mission is for my paintings to depict the activities of life and to elicit the joy of living.
