This painting won The People's Choice Award at The Woody Guthrie Center during the August 2018 First Friday Art Crawl in Tulsa. I had the pleasure of photographing these cowboys at work on a ranch in Pawhuska Oklahoma. They wasted no time getting right to work following a spring thunderstorm. The original is framed and available.
Art is in my DNA. Relatives from both sides of my family were and are successful artists. I worked as an artist in Oklahoma for 26 years, focusing on Portraiture in Oil. I grew up near Kansas City, MO and in January 2019 I returned to my Missouri roots and am settled near St. Louis. I have a fine arts degree that encompasses dance performance and art. I studied everything from the sciences of the body and movement, to lighting, stage design and choreography. Following college I performed for a short time with the Springfield Ballet. All of this plays into my love of painting figures moving through life. My mission is for my paintings to depict the activities of life and to elicit the joy of living.
