This portrait was commissioned to celebrate the 50 year career of Dr. John C. Kramer a pediatric pulmonologist. Dr. Kramer was a pioneer in Tulsa in the treatment and research of cystic fibrosis. He is no longer with us but will never be forgotten by everyone who knew him and those he fought so hard to save.
Art is in my DNA. Relatives from both sides of my family were and are successful artists. I worked as an artist in Oklahoma for 26 years, focusing on Portraiture in Oil. I grew up near Kansas City, MO and in January 2019 I returned to my Missouri roots and am settled near St. Louis. I have a fine arts degree that encompasses dance performance and art. I studied everything from the sciences of the body and movement, to lighting, stage design and choreography. Following college I performed for a short time with the Springfield Ballet. All of this plays into my love of painting figures moving through life. My mission is for my paintings to depict the activities of life and to elicit the joy of living.

This portrait was to be a surprise to the subject, a prominent pulomonologist in Tulsa who was going to have a banquet in his honor. He was told that one of his pediatric patients needed a photo of him for a class assignment and that someone would come by to take it. He literally stepped out on the sidewalk in his Dr. Seuss lab coat. I had met him and knew the expression I wanted. Thankfully that was his normal natural smile that he carried with him always.
