About Susan Hensel
Art is in my DNA. Relatives from both sides of my family were and are successful artists. I worked as an artist in Oklahoma for 26 years, focusing on Portraiture in Oil. I grew up near Kansas City, MO and in January 2019 I returned to my Missouri roots and am settled near St. Louis. I have a fine arts degree that encompasses dance performance and art. I studied everything from the sciences of the body and movement, to lighting, stage design and choreography. Following college I performed for a short time with the Springfield Ballet. All of this plays into my love of painting figures moving through life. My mission is for my paintings to depict the activities of life and to elicit the joy of living.

I love my NEWest Susan Hensel Art / Susan Hensel Art Page investment! I purchased TWO new pillows which are proudly displayed on our new sleeper sofa in our most recently developed, private guest quarters. The first pillow is made from a painting Susan created of the sailboat, Sea's the Day. Rob and I sailed her from 2008 until 2013. We also exchanged our wedding vows on her. The second pillow is of a smaller sailboat we owned for awhile also, named Little Havana; Susan created the painting of Little Havana from a photo I sent her after a day on the beaches of #LakeTexoma.
