For those interested in adding a message to the art work-this can be done by request. This painting is available to order with the current message. This format is especially nice in the metal or acrylic formats as gifts. This would also make a wonderful greeting card. This is a self portrait with my yellow Labrador Sammie.
Art is in my DNA. Relatives from both sides of my family were and are successful artists. I worked as an artist in Oklahoma for 26 years, focusing on Portraiture in Oil. I grew up near Kansas City, MO and in January 2019 I returned to my Missouri roots and am settled near St. Louis. I have a fine arts degree that encompasses dance performance and art. I studied everything from the sciences of the body and movement, to lighting, stage design and choreography. Following college I performed for a short time with the Springfield Ballet. All of this plays into my love of painting figures moving through life. My mission is for my paintings to depict the activities of life and to elicit the joy of living.

This strikes so close to home, Susan. Often our "grand dogs" join us for a nap. I have done pet portraits of both of them. Something I had not done in over 45 years. This and the words behind it are beautiful!.....fav/like
Susan Hensel replied:
Thank you. Sammie was a sweet girl who is still missed our family.
Susan Hensel replied:
oops! "by" our family.
